Tony being Tony

Anthony Bourdain, entertaining as ever on his TravChan blogposts. His latest must-read post: all about his filming in Vietnam, his impending year long move to Vietnam, his obsessive love for all things Vietnam....oh, and Rachael Ray as a New York Dolls fan (WTF??!) and a hilarious heads up about the Sandra Lee FoodTV Kwanzaa cake, perhaps the ugliest dessert ever televised (vid below), as Bourdain called it "a piece of video every American should see as a cautionary exercise-like a particularly gruesome highway safety film". And that is yet another reason why I love Bourdain!

Blog wanderings: "foie gras wars", PBC Sandwiches, and a deicious case of crabs!

Reading this latest blog post from Bourdain reminds me again of why I LOVE his writing. Always witty, engaging, and with a damn fine edge. Can't wait to see his Chicago show!

A Cabbage and Peanut Butter Sandwich? Yeah, I've never heard of it either. But check out Bourdain pal Michael Ruhlmann's post about one of his favorite things. It will definitely be on my lunch plate soon!

An amusing post here from SF Chronicle food guy Michael Bauer about his chancing upon a free case of live Dungeness crabs. Some guys have all the luck!

Bourdain, telling it like it is...again!

Why I love Bourdain's writing: You know he's going to speak his mind in his usual entertaining, scorched earth way. This snippet from his post of five days ago about his guest judgeship on Bravo's "Top Chef":
"As for me? I could give a rat's ass who the producers or Bravo want to win or not win . What I've traditionally used the Glad Family of Bags for would probably not make a good commercial. When I read the surprising announcement that Michelob, a beer I don't drink and don't much like, was going to be "sponsoring" my Bravo blog, I advised them that I felt compelled to disappoint them."

Anthony Bourdain, he who eats bugs, gets tatted up with the locals, and becomes hammered on native hooch on his Travel Channel TV show 'No Reservations', is also one of the funniest fucking food writers on the planet. Check out his blog post from a week ago where he fires yet another salvo directly at his favorite target, the programming geniuses at the Food Network, zeroing in on their decision to start rerunning his old Food TV show 'A Cook's Tour'. One of his theories, among his other hilarious comments about said decision: "They're not putting the show back on because they like it. They're trying to destroy me!" I theorized. People will surely comment on the striking - even horrifying - decline in my appearance since those few years ago - and will wonder why they would still watch someone who is clearly dying of some hideous hair whitening, skin puffing, tropical bloating disease."
Check it out. You will be laughing your asses off!
